Exmoor is a National Park situated on the Bristol Channel coast of South West England. The park straddles the counties of Somerset and Devon and covers
267 square miles of hilly open moorland, over 600 miles of footpaths,
bridleways and byways and includes 34 miles of stunning coastline including
the Brendon Hills and the Vale of Porlock.

It is an excellent place to explore, discover and relax with something for everyone – ramblers, cyclists, horseriders, nature lovers, artists, fishing,
golfing, bird watching, steam train enthusiasts

The changing seasons and beautiful countryside makes Exmoor somewhere
to visit anytime of year.


The land surrounding the lake offers miles of footpaths including a 9 mile round Lake walk.

Wimbleball is an important centre for anglers, rowing, sailing and canoeing.


There is a tea-room offering an indoor retreat for light lunches, beverages and snacks with a childrens's play area.


UK IRONMAN 2008 Triathlon takes place at Wimbleball Lake on Sunday the 15th June 2008

Swim 1.2 miles / 1.9km - one lap, starting from the shore, with a mass start starting at 06.00am.
Bike course is 56 miles - 90 km in the surrounding countryside.
Run is 13.1 miles - 21kms around the Lake.

Tarr Steps, a designated National Nature Reserve, and best known for its scheduled monument, the clapper bridge.

Much of the woodland here was once coppiced, primarily to provide charcoal for the local iron smelting industry. This is mainly oak woodland, with beech, ash, sycamore and hazel.

A very popular place to visit during your stay.


Dulverton
is the southern gateway to Exmoor and stands between the rivers Barle and Exe which converge a mile or so down the valley.

The excellent Lewis Tea Room, Gerald David's award winning butchers and some unusual gift shops for you to peruse.


Dunster Show
takes place in August every year. Enjoy a relaxing and fun day with the backdrop of Dunster Castle.

Livestock, crafts, displays, dog show and much more through out the day.

Also visit Dunster Country Fair which takes place in July


Dunster
- the pretty thatched cottages of Dunster, Luccombe and Selworthy will make you take out your camera.

Visit Dunster, Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth explore their gift shops,
Visitor Centres and surrounding countryside.

Dunster Castle owers over the village and open throughout the summer for visitors


Doone Valley made famous by R D Blackmore it is a magical, mystical place and it makes for a lovely walk and wonderful for horse riding.

The heart of Loona Doone country is tiny Malmsmead, which lies deep in the valley below County Gate, on Exmoor.

In the village itself is Lorna Doone Farm, and nearby Oare House and Oare Church, where R D Blackmore's grandfather was once rector


West Somerset Steam Railway
runs throughout the year from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard and back throughout the year.

Passing through Dunster, Blue Anchor, Watchet, Crowcombe and other villages - why not stop off and visit and them hop back on the train again!
